Il volume raccoglie gli atti del workshop internazionale Cultural and Material Contacts in the Ancient Near East, tenutosi presso l’Università degli Studi di Torino l’1-2 dicembre 2014. I diversi studi presentati contribuiscono a mostrare, attraverso un approccio interdisciplinare, la complessità e l’importanza dei contatti materiali e culturali nel Vicino Oriente antico tra il II millennio a.C. e l’età partico-sasanide.
Can history, archaeology and philology help to understand commercial exchanges, diplomatic relations and the transfer of ideas? What are the dynamics that allow – through movement of people and objects – the diffusion of different cultural elements and mutual influences? This volume collects the proceedings of the international workshop Cultural and Material Contacts in the Ancient Near East, held at the University of Torino on December 1-2, 2014. The papers presented here show – through an interdisciplinary approach – the complexity and the importance of material and cultural contacts in the Ancient Near East from the 2nd millennium BC to the Parthian and Sasanian periods.
